Interactive Instructional Video
There are several theories describing the way people learn. Cognitivism compares the mind with a computer, suggesting that information comes in, is processed, and the learning moment happens. In the case of the present video, new knowledge is built upon what has already been learned. Learners should be active listeners and participants to gain more knowledge on the issue presented in the video.
The target audience is educators who are looking for opportunities to continue their studies, expand their subject knowledge base and go above and beyond just subject learning.
There are two important information blocks: introducing the name of the program, which learners can look up on the Internet if they are not familiar with it; and also giving a few important tips on how to succeed with the high scores on the English language proficiency exam – TOEFL.
The goal of the story in the video is to show a teacher just like any of us, the one you can relate to, who is aspiring for getting her master’s degree abroad and preparing for her exam. This video is not only about putting some structure to all the tips on learning English that people may already be familiar with, it is also about making them believe that it is possible to get this scholarship if you work hard enough and have a clear plan of actions just like Sarah!
As the content of the video is not academic and does not target young learners, there is just one question embedded at the end of the video for the purpose of getting feedback rather than assessing the audience’s understanding. The question was embedded via https://edpuzzle.com. The level of the audience’s responsiveness will help to measure the success of the material presented in the video.
